September Dolphin Democrats Meeting

I attended the September Dolphin Democrats meeting and listened to a very inspirational speech given by guest speaker State Rep Shevrin Jones about the importance of being you and serving your community. I also had the opportunity, thanks to President Alfredo Olvera and VP Nik Harris, to speak on school related issues including the importance of promoting and providing high quality education in schools that are free from any and all forms of discrimination so all children in Broward County Schools can feel safe and secure.

Fort Lauderdale Broward NAACP August Meeting

I attended the Fort Lauderdale Broward NAACP August meeting hosted by President Marsha Ellison. Guest speakers included Chief Assistant Public defender Gordon Weekes, Judge Elijah Williams and others. Enjoyed watching Thursday’s presidential debate with School Board member Patti Good, Hollybrook resident and community leader Norma Fisher, Walter C Young Middle educator and friend Larissa Chanzes, and the wonderful residents of Hollybrook community in the beautiful city of Pembroke Pines.

Meeting at Century Village Democratic Club of Pembroke Pines

Had the pleasure of attending and speaking about my top priorities for Broward Schools on Thursday at the Century Village Democratic Club of Pembroke Pines hosted by President Sophie Bock. U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz and current chief assistant public defender and candidate for Broward Public Defender Gordon Weekes were guest speakers for the afternoon. It was also great seeing Mayor of Pembroke Pines Frank Ortis and others as well.

Broward's Black Elected Officials August Meeting

Dr. Jeff Holness was invited and attended Broward’s Black Elected Officials August Meeting.

Guest speakers included Congressman Alcee Hastings who provided Washington Updates, Judge Jack Tutor who provided information on civil rights restoration by utilizing community service, Peter Antonacci, Broward County Supervisor of Elections, who provided voter education information and Brenda Forman, Broward Clerk of Courts who provided information to assist in restoring voter rights.

Back to School Drive

Dr. Jeff Holness joins with the Kiwanis Club of Greater Sunrise to deliver Back to School Drive supplies to kids in need at Village Elementary in Sunrise and discusses issues of economic challenges facing families at a school where 98% of students are on free and reduced lunch.

Dr, Holness encourages all of us to continue to help children in every way you can. They are the future of our nation. Dr. Jeff also conducts yearly Back to School Drive and donate supplies to Maplewood and Ramblewood Elementary Schools in Coral Springs. In addition, Dr. Jeff provides fully paid Kumon Math and Reading scholarships to students from these schools experiencing economic hardship.

Maplewood Elementary School Advisory Council

Dr. Jeff Holness is a member of Maplewood Elementary School Advisory Council for several years. Dr. Jeff is fully engaged and involved in Broward Schools: With Principal Itty, then PTO President Anita Catalano and other School Advisory Council Members.

Pembroke Pines Mayor Frank Ortis’s Café

Dr. Jeff Holness visited Pembroke Pines Mayor Frank Ortis’s Café and enjoyed talking with the mayor. If you are looking for a great place to have breakfast or lunch and feel very much at home, check out Mayor’s Café in Pembroke Pines. Great staff, great food, great ambience!

Dr. Jeff visited Walter C Young Middle School. Jeff Holness visited his past colleagues at Walter C Young Middle in Pembroke Pines where he taught 6th grade World History for several years. Dr. Jeff Holness attended the August Oakland Park Democratic Club meeting. Featured speakers were Florida Senator Gary Farmer, US Congressman Ted Deutch and Wilton Manors Commissioner Paul Rolli.

Dr. Jeff Holness was invited and attended Mayor of Coral Springs Scott Jonathan Brook Mayor’s Innovation Table meeting held at Lady and the Mug in Coral Springs where ideas were shared on building Unity in The Community.

Suicide Prevention Meeting Hosted by Weston Democratic Club

Dr. Jeff Holness attended Weston Democratic Club meeting on suicide prevention by Jackie Rosen, wife of past Miramar and Weston mayor Harry Rosen. He will make identifying and addressing mental illness in children in our Broward schools of the highest priority. Dr. Jeff looks forward to working with Jackie and others on doing everything we can to identify and address mental illness that leads to an alarming number of young people dying from suicide.

Broward Democratic Senior Caucus Meeting
